Demonstration: Protest Swedish government’s trans eugenic policy

(with thanks to Natacha Kennedy for info)

There is to be a demonstration outside the Swedish embassy on Monday 30 January, 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm.

This is in response to the fact that the Swedish government is still insisting that trans people are forcibly sterilised and have any frozen reprodictive material destroyed. This is nothing to do with GRS, it is simply a legal requirement. This is an infringement of the human rights of people in Sweden and represents a return to Eugenics, in the way it existed in the 1930s. This is a barbaric practice and it must stop!

Attempts to have this law overturned in the Swedish parliament appear, at present, to be being blocked by the Prime Minister who is in hock to one small right-wing political party (which is currently sustaining his coalition).

For further information and to sign the petition, go to allout.org.

The embassy is located at 11 Montagu Place, London W1H 2AL. Their phone number, in case you are unable to attend in person, is 020 7917 6400. Do be polite!

But if you can make it, please do. Sweden like to think of themselves as uber-progressive on social issues…so this sort of embarrassment DOES have an effect.

Sweden didn’t get rid of those 1930’s eugenics laws til the mid 1970s… they obviously left this one at the back of the cupboard and just found it.

The KRISTDEMOKRATERNA or Christian Democrat’s are considered a centre right party and yet another reason why any party or individual backed by religious nutters needs to be banned from any political activity.

Funnily enough I was never offered the choice to store any reproductive material in the uk.

You should have received some paperwork before being given hormones which will have stressed that prolonged usage would make you infertile… I remember Jane’s suggested patients may like to consider sperm storage. The Harry B guidelines certainly suggest this should happen at a couple of points in the process of being prescribed hormones.

But it’s not rocket science is it.?…. perhaps people are meant to work it out themselves and be responsible for their own furture plans.

    Thanks for mentioning this Jane.

You are right, this could have a real effect in Sweden, they are not used to this sort of thing outside their embassies, they are more used to human rights demos outside other countries’ embassies in Stockholm.
