"But still, there are questions to be answered. Did Cameron, Johnson and Osbourne take part in criminal damage whilst at Oxford? How did they make amends? And what action, by the authorities, helped them to understand the error of their ways? Were they ever prosecuted? And if not, why not?"

Who knows if they did or didn't but the fact they aren't talking about it means either they didn't or (more likely) they are aware it was a bad thing to do and don't like to shout about it.

They probably paid for the damage and didn't need the authorities to point out the error of their ways becuase they had an established moral code in place that meant they knew it was wrong (even if they didn't give a shit at the time)...and the sort of life rolled out in front of them that meant they wouldn't ever feel the need to do it again once out of that stage of life.

Comparing it with the feral yoof on the streets is just a red herring and an excuse to take a populist pop at the toffs.

I seriously doubt some of those destroying and looting over the last few nights actually believe it is wrong at any level.

I doubt taking them to court would do any more good now than it would have done a member of the Bullindon club then... but for totally different reasons.

They may get a fine...that they won't pay.
A custodial sentence.... its not like it'll affect future job prospects.

I don't know what the answer is... but the parallel you are drawing is a waste of time.
